What is it...

...that made Jesus cherish children so much?

In his culture, they were more of an afterthought. Easy to see as Jesus' students try to deflect parents who bring children to see Jesus.

Instead Jesus waves the kids through like V.I.P.S..

What do you think attracts God to kids? Why are they so loveable?

For me, the obvious answer is the "faith like a child" analogy Christ made (Luke 18:15-17). However, I wonder if he didn't feel refreshed by them. That is, do you think he felt frustrated by teaching thousands topically and 12 deeply and having to use profound logic and answer questions and deal with irreverent, disbelieving hearts... but when he kissed babies or spoke to a child, they were just kids? They didn't have deep theological rebuttals in an attempt to retain their "status quo"; they just listened, maybe just believed. They weren't corrupted, jaded, or fatigued by life.

I've alway thought that children somehow remember God. About a year ago we started letting Grey draw with crayons and one day after scribbling all over his paper Micah asked him what it was and he simply said "God". Now we pray with Grey but haven't ever really explained God to him and at two I wouldn't think he'd even understand. So, maybe children are so easy to accept God because for them it's not believing in something they can't explain, but finally putting a name to the face they remember...that's just my thought. I don't think that answers the question, but it was on my mind.
