Empty Words? Cliche? Life Statement?

JESUS LOVES YOU.

What's your first reaction when you hear those three words?

Are they so cliche that they don't mean anything?

Are they so basic that they are a given?

Are they so deep that they are hard to really get ahold of?

Are they the basis for your identity?

Something else?

I instantly think of my mom singing "Jesus Loves You" and rocking me to sleep.

I think it has lost any of its meaning to Americans. They think of door to door folks, or people with flowers. Maybe a bumper sticker on the guy with the guy telling you that you are number one. It is so easy to say, but hard to live, as we are also called to love.

I think they have become cliche in our society but some people dream of the day they can say these words in public. How dare we as Americans take for granted the precious religious freedom that we have. If we could fathom Jesus' love for us, these words would never be taken lightly.

The first thing that comes to mind is "I know." I really do know and it makes me warm from the inside out. It's great! I wish everyone knew that feeling.
